IES Campanar Students Write about Important
Issues
IMMIGRATION
Owing to
the efficiency of transport, the media and globalization the number of
people who live in a country but were born in another is getting higher and
higher.
From my
point of view this is a wonderful thing for society since it helps us
understand other cultures, different languages and different ways to feel the
world; it definitely broadens our minds.
Some
people, afraid of losing their traditions because of this fact, blame immigrants
and do not regard them as citizens. This is, in my opinion, a complete mistake
and it is high time people realised it.
Nevertheless,
what immigrants should try to do when they move to another country is to live
and work among natives and make an effort to get on well with them. Obviously
the latter should also allow immigrants to speak their mother tongue and to
believe in whatever they feel like.
To sum up,
minority cultures mean a great chance to learn new things and we all have to
try to learn from each other.

THE
ENVIRONMENT
There is a
lot of controversy about climate change and environmental problems. In fact,
there has been a conference in
On the one
hand there are people who are environmentally friendly and so they respect the
environment, for example, the most famous “green” association, Greenpeace.
On the
other hand there are powerful and rich companies that are not looking after the
environment. Moreover they are usually the main producers of pollution.
In my
opinion citizens cannot discuss this in conferences. Instead we should all help
and support the environment by reducing, recycling and reusing. In addition we
should respect our world and give support to environmental organizations.
